Description
This Strawberry Danish recipe uses flaky puff pastry, a smooth cream cheese filling, and a homemade strawberry topping for an easy bakery-style pastry at home.
Ingredients
- 1 sheet frozen puff pastry, thawed (17.3 oz)
- 8 oz cream cheese, softened
- 1/4 cup granulated sugar
- 1 large egg, separated
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 tablespoon all-purpose flour
- 1 1/2 cups fresh strawberries, hulled and diced
- 2 tablespoons granulated sugar
- 1 tablespoon cornstarch
- 1 teaspoon fresh lemon juice
- 1/4 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 cup powdered sugar
- 2–3 tablespoons whole milk
- 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
Instructions
1. Preheat oven to 400°F and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
2. Beat cream cheese until smooth, then mix in sugar, egg yolk, vanilla, and flour.
3. Cook strawberries with sugar, cornstarch, lemon juice, and vanilla until slightly thickened.
4. Cut puff pastry into rectangles and score borders around edges.
5. Fill pastry centers with cream cheese and strawberry mixture.
6. Brush edges with egg wash and bake until golden.
7. Drizzle glaze over slightly cooled pastries.
